DELTA AIRLINES DELAYS RETURN TO SA ROUTE
Delta Airlines have announced a further delay in their return to flights to South Africa. Flights will now only resume in March 2021.
Delta initially indicated that they will restart their South African routes in December 2020. This was announced after our country’s borders reopened under Level 1 of Lockdown. The planned return was first postponed to January 2021 and now to March.
DELTA AIRLINES: TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS AND CUSTOMER DEMAND
According to Delta’s Director of Sales for Africa, Jimmy Eichelgruen, they had to adjust the airline’s flight schedule in response to the pandemic, the subsequent travel restrictions and decline in customer demand. “We have adjusted the planned restart of operations between South Africa and Atlanta. The flights are now due to depart Johannesburg and Cape Town on 28 March 2021.”
United Airlines have also confirmed that they will return non-stop flights between Johannesburg and New York from March 2021.
